To avoid the “Nodding Dog Syndrome” where people just attend training, but don’t remember or want to use the ideas given, it is important to follow up the training every time with these key questions:

  • What did you learn?
  • How do you think what you have learn could be applied in our work environment?

Training is an investment that should strengthen a business. If the impact of the training has been limited, you might want to ask yourself why that might be. Training can only improve performance if all the other aspects of a healthy business are in place. These include, clear direction and vision, effective leadership, opportunities for contribution, growth and development.
